Thurleigh Road 1 – Private House, Clapham
A substantial 6 bedroom detached property in south west London. The clients had visited us while we were carrying out the works to another house in Thurleigh Avenue. Their own house offered sufficient accommodation but was poorly arranged, with inadequate day-lighting to the rear living areas, and poorly laid out bathroom and master bedroom accommodation at the upper floors. Our proposal was to move the kitchen from one side of the house to the other so as to unlock the south westerly aspect of the rear elevations, and allow daylight and sunlight to penetrate to the heart of the house. The ground floor garden elevations were removed entirely, with the rear of the house being entirely supported on concealed steelwork, and new fully glazed and opening glazed windows installed. Upstairs all the bathrooms were moved and re-constructed, with the creation of new en-suite master bedroom and guest suites, and the house was fully insulated internally and within the roof space.
